Master's Bedroom is a major milestone in our protagonists' story, the album where they at last became Thee Oh Sees (and not only in name). With this record, their seventh full-length, Thee newly-minted Oh Sees' music mutated into the Nuggets-filtered-through-krautrock-and-punk style they are most known for. This shift is evident as soon as "Block of Ice", the opening track and a classic that stands tall in a catalog filled with them, kicks into gear. John's jaunty guitar lines, his bizarro "harmonies" with Brigid, and the song's all-around infectuous energy make it really shine.
